The new motorcycle will be the most powerful and expensive motorcycle from the Scrambler family to go on sale in our market.
Ducati India has announced the launch of the new Scrambler 1100 on its social media channels. The flagship Scrambler offering will make its India debut on August 27. A few Ducati dealerships have already started accepting bookings for the upcoming motorcycle for an amount of Rs 1-2 lakh depending on the dealer. According to the dealers, the Scrambler 1100 will retail for around Rs 11 lakh (ex-showroom) for the base variant.
At the heart of the bike sits a 1,079cc, L-twin motor churning out 86hp at 7,500rpm and 88Nm of torque at 4,750rpm. In comparison, the standard Scrambler’s 803cc engine produces 74hp and 67Nm of torque. Transmission duties are handled by a six-speed gearbox.
It carries forward the styling of its smaller siblings, albeit with few changes, including underseat twin exhaust mufflers and a redesigned headlight. Given the extra firepower on offer, Ducati has endowed the Scrambler 1100 the safety net of ABS, cornering ABS and a four-level traction control system. It also gets ride-by-wire throttle and features three riding modes – Active, Journey and City. The instrument cluster has been updated as well and now features a second pod. This helps display all the additional read outs that come with the new electronics.
In international markets, the Scrambler 1100 is available in three variants – standard, Sport and Special. We suspect that the base standard variant will go on sale first in India. It features a fully adjustable 45mm USD fork from Marzocchi and a preload/rebound-damping adjustable monoshock from Kayaba. Radial-mounted twin-disc brakes with four-piston Brembo M4.32B callipers are standard equipment fitted across all variants. With a price tag of about Rs 11.50 lakh, the standard 1100 is quite unique and lacks direct rivals; but at the expected price bracket, the sporty Triumph Street Triple RS (Rs 11.13 lakh) or the retro Triumph Bonneville Speedmaster (Rs 11.11 lakh) are valid alternative options.
