Hero’s first 125cc scooter could be the most affordable one in its segment.
Hero had revealed two new 125cc scooters – the Maestro Edge 125 and the Duet 125 – at Auto Expo 2018. A few months later, leaked images from what appeared to be a presentation revealed that the Duet 125 had been renamed to Destini 125. Now, we have confirmation that the Indian motorcycle brand will launch its first 125cc scooter, the Destini 125, on October 22, 2018.
The Destini 125 will be positioned as a family scooter offering and will also be the more affordable one of the two upcoming Hero scooters. Styling-wise, the scooter gets body-coloured rear-view mirrors and a dual-tone seat. In terms of features, the scooters get an external fuel-filler cap, side-stand warning, service indicator and a pass switch. Furthermore, it comes with a boot lamp and mobile charging point.
Powering the scooter is a 125cc motor that makes 8.7hp and 10.2Nm of torque. It will come equipped with i3S (idle-start-stop) tech that, until now, was seen only on Hero motorcycles. The Destini will also feature alloy wheels (but they appear to span only 10 inches) and a linked braking system.
The Destini isn’t as powerful as Honda’s Activa 125 and Access 125, but we believe Hero could be doing this in order to price it competitively. But then again, Hero will most likely repeat what they did with the Xtreme 200R and position the Destini as the most affordable scooter in the 125cc segment.
As for the Maestro Edge 125, we will believe Hero will position it above the Destini and launch it in November 2018.
