The Houje DR300 is likely to be marketed as the Suzuki GSX-S300 in global markets.

Patent images of the Houje DR300 had emerged online a few months ago and now the bike has been officially unveiled in China. The Houje DR300 is likely to be rebadged as the Suzuki GSX-S300 for global markets.

The motorcycle’s styling is similar to the patent images and it adopts the aggressive and sharp design language which is the norm for modern streetfighters. It features a petite and chiselled LED headlight, while the chunky forks and large tank extensions augment its muscular styling. The instrument console is a fully-digital LCD unit consisting of a speedometer, tachometer, gear position indicator, trip meter, odometer and the usual array of features and telltale lights. The tail section is quite compact with an LED tail-light and split seat.

Powering the Houje DR300 is a 298cc, liquid-cooled parallel-twin motor. The Chinese brand hasn’t divulged power figures yet, but it’s speculated to put out around 30hp and 25Nm of peak torque. Transmission duties are handled by a 6-speed transmission. Talking about cycle parts, the frame is suspended on a non-adjustable USD fork and a preload adjustable monoshock. Anchorage is offered by disc brakes on both ends and dual-channel ABS comes standard. The bike runs on 17-inch alloy wheels on both ends and come wrapped with 110/70 and 140/60 Pirelli tyres on the front and rear, respectively.

While the Houje DR300 or the Suzuki GSX-S300 wouldn’t be coming to India, what we do know is that the Japanese brand is planning to launch a new 250cc model in our market next year. The new Suzuki 250cc (single-cylinder) motorcycle, similar to the Gixxer and the Intruder will be specifically developed for India and it’s likely to adapt the sharp styling seen on the Houje DR300/Suzuki GSX-S300.
