In an interview that has once again focused the attention on sexual harassment in Bollywood, former Miss India and actress, Tanushree Dutta accused Nana Patekar of misbehaving with her during a shoot 10 years ago. The matter created quite a stir on social media though not many in Bollywood came out in support of her.
But now the biggest superstar of India has spoken. Or rather, he didn’t speak. At the trailer launch of Thugs of Hindostan earlier today, Amitabh Bachchan, as well as his co-star Aamir Khan, were asked their opinions on the allegations. Aamir said, “Well, I think without knowing the veracity of something or the details of something, I don’t think I can comment on it. It’s not right on me – either way, to comment on it. But I would like to say that whenever something like this does happen, it’s a really sad thing. Now that this has happened, it’s for people to investigate, and I don’t think we can comment on it.” Safe but not entirely skirting the issue.
But Amitabh Bachchan had a strange response. “I am neither Tanushree nor Nana Patekar. How can I say anything on that?” Amitabh Bachchan said, refusing to be drawn into any controversy. Earlier, Amitabh had given a similar answer he was asked about Priyanka Chopra being trolled for wearing a skirt while meeting Indian PM Narendra Modi. “I am neither the PM nor Priyanka Chopra. How can I answer then?” he had said.
Tanushree Dutta has alleged that Nana Patekar behaved inappropriately with her on the sets of the film Horn OK Pleassss. She also accused the film’s director and choreographer of being a part of it.
